Lansdown 4s had an early start today with a trip down to Bridgwater. Managing to avoid the floods from yesterday, but with an early start, Lansdown started well with a few faces returning to the squad.
Lansdown held a very strong Bridgwater who were well drilled, patient and very determined to keep troubling our defence when they were finally rewarded with their first goal sending L4s down to 0-1.
Lansdown continued unphased and using some well worked play on the left wing through from Vicky, Darcey and Georgie, utilising the midfield screens of Nic and Sarah, found ourselves a few times in the oppositions D, ready to have a shot at the on form Bridgwater keeper.
But try as we might, the defence of Grace, Caz and Char just couldn’t stop the fast breaks from the opposition who sent a lovely strike from a tight angle in past Laura’s foot (I got a toe to it honest!).
With another fast break Lansdown found ourselves down to 0-3 at half time.
After a chat from our dedicated supporters including Sue and Captain Rachel, we went back out there to a Bridgwater side who upped their game again.
2 quick goals from them proved that they weren’t going to sit back and let us get back in the game.
Our forwards Nagyda and Izzy finding it hard to escape the Bridgwater defence to run to goal and Neve on the right being marked out of the game.
Final score was 0-8 to Bridgwater (im sorry i don’t keep count!).
Lots of lessons to be learned and a good indication of what’s to come in Severn Div 1 this season, as league starts next week. But heads held high as always! Well done ladies!
