First league match of the season and we are sitting 3rd in the league on goal difference. An excellent match which was supported by the surprise arrival of the Club President on a lovely day in Newent. With a significant number of young players under 17 (5 players) this could have been a bit of a struggle but in fact it all turned out well. Notable moments
- A hat trick for the captain after a shaky start.
- Tom made some crucial saves at short corners on his debut to the 1st XI.
- Another strong half time team talk where it was really important to get the look right for the second half.
The start of the second half was really strong with 2 early goals. The pressure near the end of the match was exacerbated with regular loss of possession but the team weathered the storm well and held out for a well deserved victory.
