M4 vs Cirencester 4 Home Lost 1-7

MOM: Justin & Will

DOD: Raoul

This week I had 21 players to select from, which is fab so keep the availability updated.

This was always going to be a tough match as Cirencester 4 are second in the table, but with 15 selected containing literally years of experience thought we could build on the good results so far this season, hmmm didn’t quite happen that way.

From the off Cirencester were, to be honest better, passing accuracy, ball speed and movement all left us chasing the play in the opening first 10 minutes and the first goal came from short corner, and although the experienced set of defenders proved to be a formidable line, another short corner led to Cirencester second goal.  I have noted that all bar 3 players this week qualified for the vet’s team

Now, it wasn’t all bad, when we clicked the short passing and movement looked good and we created ½ chances and Justin scored from an acute angle after good individual skill and sheer persistence, however 2 more short corners, and were 4-1 down at half time.

We all knew what was going wrong at half-time, so the Jelly Babies, Tangfastics and oranges revived spirits for the first 10 minutes, but two goals in quick time took the wind out of our sails.  Saying that 2nd half saw us push and keep attacking winning several short’s, so need to convert those to get some goals!

I’m sure it wasn’t all bad but the score line, states it wasn’t good.

Another tough match next week vs Winchcombe who are winning by a heavy margin each game.

Shared MOM: Justin – great goal from an acute angle & Will – solid at the back

Honourable mentions: Mr Kim & Shaun

DOD: Raoul, green card for ‘robust play’

Dis-honourable mentions – Bill, Mark

I have introduced a new feature for DOD, award winners will now be required to provide an answer to the question “In my defence…”

So Raoul …..

“In my defence, I was merely trying to give the visitor a welcome hug while trying to win the ball, the ref saw it as straying too much into the arena of 50 shades and decided I need a cool down. In summary, my defence is that the PG rating was not made clear at the start of the game..”
