Not long after the starting whistle we won us our first short corner of the game. Bloggys drag flick was saved off the line by the defenders foot but Sam BW was able to slam it into the backboard during the advantage. 1-0 Lansdown. Not long after, Marlborough caught us on the counter attack and forced a great save from Tom in goal but it fell to one of their forwards who tapped it home. 1-1. There was not much action in the rest of the half other than a couple of cards from Dphil to the opposition for chat back.
After a second half team talk from Fozzy and the usual Haribos being passed around we were moving the ball around better with less double turnovers and intercepted passes. We were looking more dangerous on the counter attack and more set in the press resulting in lots more D entries. The defence looked solid all game with lots of balls played around the back, some great aerials to get us going forward and their forwards in our pockets!
Eventually Luke broke down the right moved the ball to Jonny who lifted it to myself across goal and it went straight through my legs, which is reason I am writing this match report! After Bloggy getting a ball to the face (another reason why I’m writing this match report) and Leo having a top corner bound drag flick saved, Jake found himself at the top of the D and scored a lovely tomohawk to put us in the lead with 3 minutes to go!
It was a cagey final 3 minutes resulting in a short corner to Marlborough as the final play of the game but it was put wide…
