M4 vs Cirencester 5 Lost 2-3

MOM: Tobias

DOD: Tobias

To sum up this week …. getting better.

There are a few games that we can focus on to get a result, this was one of them and had been bigging the team and game up all week.

So, with storm Bert providing the grey skies, keen wind and rain (so much rain) we started the game with 13, anxious to get that result.  We were so confident that we gave Cirencester a 2-0 head start from the off.

Reset.

The goals came early on, so I blame the conditions, as we battled and worked hard to get going and compete.

At half time, sweets and oranges would have been happily swapped for hot chocolate and a dry pair of underpants (did I mention it was raining).  Although the umpires, D-Phil and Rachel looked wetter and colder, and Tim kindly provided hot drinks to keep them going.

In the 2nd half Cirencester scored early on, and it looked like a loss to match the day.

However, we got getter, almost like we remembered how to play, Tobias was doing some excellent runs on the left and Ethan was pushing up on the right and when Justin was at the top of D to strike with inch precision into the bottom corner, I would like to say the rain stopped and everything started looking up, but it kept on raining.

From then it was our game, we restricted Cirencester and played some good hockey and when Ethan smashed our 2nd the come back was on, time however was not.  I did step off the pitch thinking it had finished 2-2 and was really peeved when someone corrected me.

MOM: Tobias – Excellent runs and effort and running all game

Honourable mentions: Peter – solid, Ethan – goal, Bill – unflappable

DOD: Tobias – celebrating birthdays in the Hockey session (who knew!)

Dis-honourable mentions: Adrain – erm missed why, oh yes doing an excellent dummy then passing straight to the opp., Bill – dodgy brakes, Peter – own goal, Glynn – getting the score wrong

I have introduced a new feature for DOD, award winners will now be required to provide an answer to the question “In my defence…”

So Tobias…..

“I didn’t choose to be born”

Which I feel is quite apt for a teenager’s response
