The ladies 4s travelled all the way over to Cheltenham today on a lovely sunny, yet frosty morning. Thankfully, the sun was shining on the pitch so the rivalry could go ahead. With constant reminders about red socks, we all showed up ready and rearing to go.

The sun was in our eyes but first push back gave us a step up which was used to our advantage looking strong from the first whistle. We held our own in the first half with great strong passing and individual skill. You will all be pleased to hear that we managed what we thought to be impossible…a goal in the first half! Straight through the keepers legs and a satisfying sound as the ball hit the backboard. Great work Nagyda!

Strong battle in defence with one of the centre backs (not naming any names) spending more time rolling around on the floor than actually playing hockey. Said player also managed to stop the ball on the goal line with a shin pad rather than a stick and give away a flick. Fortunately, the penalty flick was no match for keeper Sophia who intimidated the opposition to send the ball wide of the goal.

Cheltenham scored some goals.

Half time came and went and with bellies full of haribo and heads full of words of wisdom from new found friend Ellie, we started the second half strong and determined.

Some more goals from Cheltenham.

Lansdown kept their heads up and played some lovely hockey throughout even through the onslaught from the opposition. Short corner after short corner, the defence really had their work cut out for them but held strong and battled through.

Amazing play from everyone today but MOM today went to keeper Sophia for amazing save after amazing save and having an absolute stormer of a game.

Lionel went to Sarah this week for great skill and determination throughout the whole game.

Champagne moment was very kindly suggested to me for getting wiped out several times and barrel rolling after the ball. Not sure what I did to offend Cheltenham but they seemed to have it out to get me!

Well played ladies!
