The ladies 4s were back at Brockworth beach taking on top of the league Blockley (although the team was unaware of this).
Lansdown started off strong with first push back (you’re welcome) and an early chance at goal. Blockley got a bit spooked leading to a quick break and an early goal against us. We were having none of this. The mids got on their bikes with some great link up play to the forwards but unfortunately we just didn’t hear the sound of the backboard. Lansdown were all over it in the first half. The opposition were quaking in their boots.
Half time consisted of the best snacks and inspirational words from new assistant coach Ellie. Into the second half with our heads held high, ready and rearing to go.
The defence held strong with many many chances for Blockley to score with some goals getting through but more importantly they didn’t all hit the backboard.
Back at the other end of the pitch, short corner after short corner led to yours truly getting the rebound off the keeper and through their legs. A very over the top hug with Sarah and high fives all round. We lifted our heads back up and not long after I swung again for a goal but stopped by a foot. Another swing from Liz broke the defence and slipped the ball into the goal.
Everyone held strong until the final whistle and we enjoyed every second.
MOM went to Sarah for amazing strong play up front and in mid and just all round amazing.
Lionel went to me for an off the line save and getting the ball in the right goal!
Champagne moment went to Georgie for a lovely dribble from half way all the way up to win a short.
