Lansdown welcomed Stroud to the fortress, with a point to prove and points to secure. The game started strong with significant pressure being put on Stroud’s defence, lots of half chances which unfortunately couldn’t be converted, a cracking game from the Stroud goalkeeper kept them in the game, after a goal line save with a defenders body part a penalty flick was awarded, again the Stroud goalkeeper was up for the challenge. Half time remained 0-0.
A few short corner routines tried by both teams with neither team convincing enough to beat the goalkeepers at either end.
Until two drags flicks from Johnny hit the postmans body, first flick had penalty corner rewarded, the second flick saw the opportunity for Rob to put Lansdown 1-0.
With a one goal advantage Lansdown had the challenge to see the game out. With a goal line save from Johnny through another short corner for Stroud they pulled their goalkeeper to give the man advantage, Lansdown parked the bus and tackled hard to finally get over the finish line. 1-0 final result but more importantly 3 points rightfully taken.
