The ladies fours went into their penultimate match of the 24/25 season with nothing to loose and smiles on their faces. A long trek up (or down) to Chipping Campden on a deceptively chilling Saturday morning.
We had a very delayed push back but when we eventually started, we definitely looked like the stronger team. Play was back and forth back and forth with great chances from both teams. New players and new positions were no match for the splendid ladies 4s today. Massive shout out to Sophie and Erin for stepping up today. It was no easy task but you both smashed it.
I know we may have lost by a fair few goals in the past but you’ll be surprised and pleased to hear that it was a goalless first half. Yes we didn’t score any but more importantly we had a clean sheet for an entire half!
Haribo and inspirational words from the team carried us through half time and into the second half with our heads held high.
Some agricultural play from the opposition in the second half and a stern talking to from the umpires. We settled back down and had some good chances on goal but didn’t hear the sound of the backboard. Solid defending, rapid mid fielding and skilful forwarding (real word?) and some amazing diving saves from keeper Laura.
MOM this week went to Neve playing back in her usual right mid (got told off for keeping putting her as right defence). Strong play and great determination!
Lionel was hard to choose this week with several names being thrown about which resulted in a joint win between Sarah and Laura. Great play both but Sarah was first to grab the lion so is now on babysitting duty for the next week.
Champagne moment went to Laura’s amazing diving saves (yes multiple diving saves) and keeping the score line to a minimum.
Well done ladies bring on a final game next week!
