Lansdown came into their final home game of the season looking for a 10th win on the spin and to keep hopes of promotion alive.

The game started at a rather pedestrian pace, with Lansdown controlling the ball, but neither team offered much in terms of attacking threat. Lansdown finally sprang into action with Leo burying a drag flick low and left to break the deadlock. With players blaming the ball for creating difficult sticky conditions, with many struggling to move the ball, a change from double dimple to Saturn was implemented, more of the same followed. Having had a number of attempts turned down by the umpires, Alex F finally picked up his customary green card.

The second half started with a bang with Richard whipping an open play strike past the goal keepers nose. Goal number 3 followed a short time later with Storey finishing a well worked short corner routine. With enough opportunities to have put the game out of sight, Lansdown decided 3 up with 10 minutes remaining was the perfect time to switch off and make things interesting. First Sam picked up a green card. Then Cirencester got themselves on the scoreboard with the forward deflecting a waist high delivery down into the ground and over Nicks head. The video suggests he may still be searching for the ball. Kedgey quickly followed this with his own green card for chat. The nervy finish continued with Lansdown defensive unit, allowing 3 forwards to stand unmarked behind them, Nick did his best to keep the ball out, but the forwards tapped in at the 3rd attempt. Thankfully, the final whistle and 3 points followed shortly after.

Champagne moment – Richard with his goal.

MoM – Johnny for a strong all-around performance, assist and pre assist.

DoD – Foz for, in Kedgey’s words, “I think the diplomatic answer would be “Overestimating our ability to change” “
