Our first league game of the season saw the Women’s 1s travel to play Slough 1s away!
Lansdown came out strong from the first whistle, creating chances and holding our own even when some umpire calls didn’t go our way. Our persistence paid off in the 2nd quarter when Gabs fired in a reverse stick shot from a penalty corner, with Maddie on the rebound to slot in our first goal and give us the lead going into half-time. 🙌
After a motivating team talk from Gary and Char, we came back out full of energy. But unfortunately Slough managed to level the score in the 3rd quarter with a reverse stick finish to make the score 1-1.
We didn’t drop our heads, determined to come away with 3 points, we kept pressing, and in the 4th quarter Char beautifully placed the ball in the back of the net from a penalty corner.
Final score: 2-1 – a massive 3 points to kick off the season! 💛🖤

DOD – Leah Barton – For foolishly squaring up to the tallest player on their team… despite being the smallest on ours! 😂
