Lansdown 4s vs Bourton and Sherborne
First league game of the season so nerves and excitement are through the roof. Thought we had escaped Brockworth beach but we seemed to bring the sand with us so we felt right at home.
On pitch captain Darcey Chambers effortlessly won her first coin toss to give us first push back and start to game off on the right foot.
And we’re off.
Lansdown absolutely dominated the pitch from push back. Great team work from defence through to mid through to the forwards who…..didn’t score. We had many chances at goal but the opposition goal keeper said no so we kept trying.
We thought all hope was lost until Bea bravely stepped up and nicely slapped the ball into the bottom left corner.
1-0.
The opposition didn’t appreciate us getting past their keeper so they had a go. After a lucky break they managed to bring the goal line level.
1-1.
Some amazing words of wisdom from new timer Sam Bate-Williams and of course the long awaited haribo set us up nicely for the second half.
Some more hockey was played. Back and forth, back and forth. Solid play from everyone on the pitch although our defenders got a bit scared whenever they stepped on the half way line and panicked. Flo kept her cool and thought she’d have a go at goal and she did just that, pushing the ball past the keeper taking the scoreline up to 2-1.
Another sneaky break from the opposition and a sneaky goal meant we got one point instead of three but one point nonetheless.
Solid play from everyone today!
MOM – Darcey for amazing play in the middle and great distribution of the ball
Lionel – Clemmie for great determination and solid play
DOD – Rachel Clawson, for a variety of reasons but I think the main one would be running off the pitch mid game to get my glove (very important might I add)
Champagne moment – as decided by the whole team Bea’s wonderful goal in the bottom left corner
