Match Report – 2s v Ciren 2s
Despite Tom C forgetting his shoes, Henry S stealing a goal from a child, and Jules H turning up to play in jorts, somehow I’ve been given DotD for calling Toby S ‘ref’ instead of ‘umpire’. (Probably because I wrote an amazing match report last week)
Our 16-strong squad arrived, with fresh PC masks, (mostly on time) fresh off a couple weeks rest and had just enough time to run a short warm-up.
We started well (again) and for the first time this season, took the lead, after Alex T made a brilliant burst down the right (in front of his camera) and scored (1-0). No less than 60 seconds later, he was in again down the right, but squared it off to Henry S who put us 2-0 up!!
Then, almost immediately after, Ciren came down our end and managed (through a few deflections) to get one past Luke (2-1). The dream of a clean sheet was over
Relatively shortly after Simon netted a scrappy PC goal to make it 3-1, before they scored again to make it 3-2. Jules made it 4-2 with a well deserved goal before the break, and we hit half-time buoyed by some really good play.
More of the same was pretty much the tactical message from Luke, and we headed back out to try and keep the pressure on.
Alex scored again to make it 5-2, and then Henry stole a goal ON THE LINE from Toby (like taking candy from a baby, tut tut) (6-2).
No matter, because Toby was playing like Messi and scored about a minute later (steal that one eh Henry ) (7-2).
At this point, Cirencester had resigned to just throwing aerials down the pitch to our centre backs.
This theme continued, until Luke was encroached upon receiving an aerial. One of the Ciren players got angry, and decided to have a go at Toby S (never a good idea) and rather deservedly got a red card, naughty boy (a nod to the shocking post-game chat there).
Luke caught an aerial in his leg pad and shouted ‘Howzat!’ (wrong sport AND poor chat) and I kicked the ball again (also the wrong sport).
Game was won, Pies and pints consumed (and Henry even let Toby keep his lemonade).
Afraid there’ll be no glorious match report from me next week, though I’m sure they’ll find a way to make me DotD even if I’m not there.
MoM: Toby A – cracking player, 1.99 goals, need I say more?
DotD – yours truly.
