Lansdown M2 blew away the Christmas cobwebs on a bright and sunny morning at Brockworth, returning to action full of festive cheer, sharp passing, and perhaps a lower level of fitness than before Christmas.

The opening ten minutes were some of the best hockey Lansdown have played all season. Slick movement, confident carries, and quick ball speed had Gloucester on the back foot early doors. The pressure paid off when Jules opened the scoring with a well-taken finish to make it 1–0. Moments later, Alex Twinning doubled the lead, calmly converting to cap off a dominant start and leave Lansdown deservedly 2–0 up.

Gloucester slowly worked their way back into the game, and just before the break they nicked a goal from a short corner, shifting momentum slightly and sending Lansdown into half-time with a narrow 2–1 lead rather than the cushion their early performance merited.

The second half began steadily but 10 minutes in Gloucester capitalised on a quick break to score almost immediately, levelling the match at 2–2 before Lansdown could properly settle. Confidence swung further Gloucester’s way soon after, when they edged ahead 3-2.

To their credit, Lansdown refused to fold. The final ten minutes saw a real resurgence, with wave after wave of pressure applied. Henry and Jaime both thought they had done enough to find the net, only for the umpire’s whistle to intervene.

Despite pushing hard until the final whistle, Lansdown couldn’t quite force the breakthrough, and the match ended 3–2 to Gloucester — a frustrating result that didn’t fully reflect the quality of hockey on display.
