This week…Another win!
Yes, another win! That’s 100% for 2026 (so it’s only 2 games but still). It was grey day and not flooded in Bourton (but very damp) and we took a strong team with hopes high. And what a good game of hockey, it’s getting frequent that the team performs well and I can celebrate another win.
From the off we looked good pressing and creating chances.
Ethan and Will were working hard, as I had threated to push Mr.Kim upfront as I like to play with a ‘mature’ often stationary high attacker with youngster doing the running! But it was Tobias pace often causing the attack to fire. About 12 minutes in Ethan feed Tobias in the D and the reverse shot hit the defender foot on the line with the keeper between, flick! Tobias stepped up and calmly placed the shot to the keepers left. Not bad for his first flick! At 30 mins Tobias started a move to Ethan then to Joe back to Tobias who sweep in for his 2nd. This was a team goal. It was not all attack attack. From a Bourton short, Alex and Pete combined to save a flick high to the right and Bill, Mr. Kim and myself were managing to defend the attacks.
So again, team talk was easy, keep it going and we are starting to be able look how we can get better, more of the lateral and backward passing to keep possession and build attacks. What we noted was our passing accuracy and pace we up and how it made our lives easy.
Second half was more of the same, great attacks Will & Ethan and Mr Kim getting in great positions, Guilluame feeding from the left and Mr Kim missing the deflections. Tobias was doing the same from the right until a ‘robust’ challenge took him off. A few scares as Bourton left an attacker high and we forgot to mark, but we had Alex so all good. No score in the 2nd half but lots of attacking play. The mid-field keep press going, Shaun bossing everyone and Joe and David working hard.
Next game is Cirencester M5 – very winnable and Shaun will be doing the captain thing as I have a social life.

Honourable mentions: Shaun – making CM his own, Alex – saving our bacon several times
DOD: Mr Kim – Went up front to show us how it should be done, well it’s a DOD award & David who turned up in blue shorts, to be fair he did ask in team chat and we sold him down the river by saying yes.
Dis-honourable mentions: Pete – rising 16 hit outs that caused chaos for defense and attackers & Guillaume – having coaching sessions from the umpire (he didn’t need or ask).
