Another absence for el Capitan Vacher, so the helm falls to me once more. We go again.
M4s have a checkered past against Cirencester 5s, so today’s late push back built suspense.
Solid start from the off, high press on them and we gathered the ball. Raoul finds the back of the net with just 2 minutes on the clock.
Ollie closely follows suit, 2-0 for us after 6 minutes.
Finn felt left out, so he put one away at 9 minutes.
The opposition got one of their own at 15 minutes, with the first signs of us switching off when they counter. This would only get worse.
Ollie shoots in the D, deflection off an opposition shinpad and finds the backboard. 4-1 at 28 minutes.
A short corner for Cirencester in the 35th minute was a bit of a spectacle. Their injector got sent away, then so did Bill. Umpire whistles for the end of the half, and they find a foot in the D to get another short corner. They get a goal, and we end the half 4-2 up.
The team talk heavily involved the possibility of us falling behind on the scoreboard.
Cirencester get another only 2 minutes into the 2nd half, and panic starts setting in. The words of warning were coming true.
Luckily Roaul got another goal 20 minutes into the half, from a short corner.
Lots of other stuff happened – Roaul had a 1v1 with the keeper, but decided to pass to a teammate instead.. and resulted in us losing the ball.
Ollie got a green card for repeat stick tackles and obstruction.
Excellent effort from everyone on the pitch, and we deserved the 5-3 victory. We definitely had chances to score more though.
MoM – overwhelming votes for ollie. A work rate that I’ve not seen before and 2 goals.
